Moving Supply

The Right Supplies For Your Move

If you are gearing up for a relocation move,  you are probably starting to feel a mixture of excitement and stress.  To manage the stress as the moving date approaches and during move itself, you will need to do a lot of preparing.  The best way to go about that is to establish all your moving supply needs and go about procuring them well in advance of the move.

Make a list of everything you think you might need to make your move a successful, pain-free one.  A good tip is to start your pre-move period with a trip to businesses that specialize in moving.  Go to a U-Haul or Ryder truck rental center an take a look at the moving supply list they have prepared for the prospective renters of their vehicles.

You will likely see on display things like stretch wrap, bubble wrap, mattress covers and other moving supplies.  While you are there you can start your price comparison shopping for the possibility of a truck rental as well.  Everything that you find there will likely be the bulk of what might be associated with  moving truck supplies.  Of course your own moving supply list will include things like packing tape, boxes, a hand truck and much more.

After you have come up with a working list, you can start working on where to cheaply find everything for your moving needs.  For boxes, take a look in the back of grocery stores, department stores and the like.  You’ll find many a discarded box, but you might need to make a few trips as delivery days for businesses vary, which will in turn effect when the boxes are being discarded.

Take your accumulated moving supply list to the local home improvement center with you.  You will invariably find that the prices there are considerably less than what you found at the U-Haul rental center.  Again, if you prepare in advance you will be able to save a lot of money and a lot of stress.

If you have additional time, you can take a perusal of some of the internet garage sale type sites.  On Craigslist, for example, you can often find moving supplies that are either incredibly cheap or that are being discarded for free.  You simply make arrangements to pick them up and they are yours for the taking.

Don’t turn you move into a last-minute moving supply nightmare.  Methodically prepare in advance and you will save a lot of money, but more importantly, you will eliminate the moving panic.
