RV Storage

Finding A Big Enough Parking Space

The lure of the open road and the adventuresome feeling of exploring new destinations has enticed many a person into the purchase of a recreational vehicle.  Between trips, however, the challenge of where to keep the RV often arises.  For those that don’t have ample room for RV storage on their own property, there are plenty of facilities that can accommodate their vehicles.

Many of the public storage facilities that specialize in rental units for storing various and sundry items of people in transition, also have areas designated for RV and boat storage.  As storage facilities are cropping up at nearly a daily rate, you would be well advised to call around to price compare.  Many of these companies run periodic specials to entice new customers to store their recreational vehicles on their lots.

In addition to price comparing, you should physically check out the facility and inquire as to the system of security that is in place.  If you are an inveterate traveler you will want to make sure that facility access is easy and that your vehicle can be retrieved without any hassle.

There are also RV storage buildings and businesses that cater strictly to recreational vehicle owners.  In general, these facilities offer a higher degree of RV shelter.  Though they may be more expensive that public storage facilities, many owners prefer the level of protection and security that is offered.  Indoor RV storage gives the owner who has invested tens of thousands of dollars, if not more, the peace of mind that comes with knowing that their investment is well protected.

Although the RV storage business has taken a hit due to recent economic struggles, there are signs that things are on the upswing.  In fact, in some parts of the country, people are relying on RV storage more because they are traveling less.  At any rate, you, as the consumer, shouldn’t hesitate to negotiate storage terms that are favorable to you, regardless of the frequency with which you travel.

Based on a little comparing and poking around, you will make the final determination as to what kind of facility is right for your camper or motor home. For the less expensive vehicle that is used by the weekend or occasional camper, the public storage option might be the way to go.  For the retiree whose RV is a home away from home, an RV garage is probably preferable to a simple open-air lot.  But for all RV owners there is place to park.
